A justification for each choice (this includes why you chose the things you chose, and why you didn't chose some of the other options). For example, if you chose PCs, why? And why didn't you choose Macs?


Recommendations for any other purchases or decisions which need to be made

The first priority must be to purchase at least 5 more routers in higher grades because they bring their own laptops, and they need to be connected to them, and the school is really big, and they might need to sometimes use the computer outside of the class. Also, they need to increase the ISP to 6Mbit, because the school has a lot of students connected to the internet at the same time (the PCs, Netbooks from the Art and Film Classes, and they need to download a lot of things from internet).


The second priority would be to purchase new laptops (10), with a processor dual core, with at least 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM and 500 ROM, so it’s useful for the Art and Film team to use, because they would be able to open and run a lot of programs, such as graphing and editing, so they can change the fixed computer rooms to mobile computer lab. When they can, they should buy more. I would not choose Mac because it’s too expensive, and they wouldn’t need it. This laptops would replace the netbooks that are now using the Art and Film Team, because they need faster computers that the one they have now, and the older netbooks would be changed by the PCs (they would have to take a lot of time to change all of the computers, but it’s worth it).

This would not be a priority, but if they bought a new operating system, they need to purchase the Windows 7 Home Premium, because it has not so much complications for using it, and not so much things you can’t do (professors don’t know much about thecnology, so it won’t need to be hard to use). Also they should consider to purchase Office 2010, because is more complete than the one they have now, 2003, because the school director is trying to improve the quality of education and with an old Office they would latter need to learn how to use it, and that would be a problem.

3. Google has a page where it has some organzations that are FOSS, called Google Developers. They can check all this page and download the software that they need. I choose Google, because it’s a very powerful company, and it’s sure that it works.

4. I will recommend to use all of the routers that are now in use, because they can’t change them all now, and they really need them for all the students of high school and for the Film and Art students. Also, they might need them for the rest of the school, so they can learn how to use properly the technology. I suggest not to keep the old software, because they need something properly for the 21th century, and that’s not new. I suggest to keep the computers until they can change them to laptops, but they really need to change them.

5. Justification in each case.

6. They don’t need to buy the interactive white boards, because they are too expensive and that’s not a priority. After they finish buying all of the above, they may purchase it, but not now. They shouldn’t let them use mobile devices in classroom, except laptops, because they would be connected to two things to the WIFI, and it would saturate the system. I think they should use the cloud computing application, but it might be difficult to the teachers to use it, because they now noting about technology. But, it think it’s important for them to receive training about this stuff, because it would be useful for them and for the students.
